If you are a Foreign National..


All foreign nationals require a RAP (Restricted Area Permit) to visit Andamans. This permit is easily available on arrival at Port Blair by air or ship. There is immigration office both at the airport arrivals and sea arrivals and authorities sanction for a stay at Andamans upto 30 days. This stay can further be extended  by 15 days with permission, to be obtained from the Superintendent of Police Andaman
District, Port Blair.

The Restricted Area Permit can also be obtained from Indian Missionsoverseas and also from Foreigners Registration Offices at Mumbai , Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata and from the immigration authorities at the airports in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata.

Some Tips


Tips..


1.. Travel by air, if you can to save the time or Travel by sea to enjoy the Ocean beauty.

2...From May mid  to September mid, the gusty winds and heavy rains normally affect the sight seeing.. Hotels and cruise rates are cheaper although during this period and tourists do take chance to visit the island beauty.

3...For Port Blair and around islands, minimum  3 night 4 days stay makes it more enjoyable than crushing all tour in 1 or nights. These islands are at far off location and one must enjoy them fully.

Do's


1..Carry your regular medicines alongwith as medicine shops are as well stored as in main cities.

2..carry your swimming suite and bathing robes to enjoy the sea beaches.

3..Dark glasses, sun screen, head cap and floaters will make your walks comfortable under the sun and on the beaches.

4..Food stuff is available almost at all the places in Andamans still, it is advisable to carry dry fruits, water, feeding bottle for kids and general medicine during your journey on the boats and cruise.

5..Enjoy the taste of sea food in Andaman.

6...Andaman is great with relaxed environment, and till this writings the mobile and internet network is not easily accessible at most of the locations. So, relax...relax and relax...no one is going to disturb you during your holidays.

7...Choose a genuine tourist operator. make payments in advance as cards are readily acceptable at Andamans for net problems

7...And so , carry enough cash with you to spend on tid bits during the tour.

8...Carry legal documents like Passport, Adhar card, permit, driving licence etc...

9...Consult life guards before entering the sea.

10...Some of the national parks at other spots are restricted in the Islands. Please carry your permit and identity card with you. Foreign national are required to produce the permit and national cards at restricted entry points.

11...Contact authorized Scuba Diving and Snorkeling Instructors beforehand to enjoy the fun under the sea.

Don'ts...


1...Don't cross the guarded area for swimming and sea ventures unless you are accompanied by the sea guards.

2... Don't interact with the tribes as sensitising with them is punishable under law.

3... Don' take photographs at airport on the apron area.Photography at VSI International airport, Port Blair  is strictly prohibited.

4...Don't carry plastic bags and plastic carry bags with you. These are banned in Andamans.

5...Don't venture the sea games under the sea without proper training under the authorized instructors..

6... Don't carry Corals, reef sea shells etc with you  Carrying corals and reef without proper cash memo/ bill from an authorized shop is not permitted by law.

7...Don't steal the life jackets kept under your seat in the aircraft. It is not usable for general swimming purpose. Carrying life jacket from the aircraft is a crime.

Andamans Attractions


Places Of Interest in Islands:

Port Blair: Cellular Jail,Anthropological museum, Fisheries museum, Chatham Saw Mill, Forest Museum, Samudrika Naval Museum,Science Centre, Corbyn's Cove beach, Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex etc

Ross Island: A small island shows the lavish life style of British during their rule on these islands. A sound and light show in the evening is worth seeing in the evening.

North Bay: This Island is mainly for Corals, scuba diving and sea walking

Havelock Island: This island covers best beaches in the world. Radhanagar beach of Havelock island has been adjudged best island in Asia. Elephanta beach, Kala Patthar beach, Bharatpur beach also are good to enjoy at Havelock.













Radhanagar Beach...adjudged 8th rank in the world. 

Neil Island: Very near to Havelock island and covered by clear water and lovely beaches. It is a place far from madding crowd and complete relaxation.


Jolly Buoy Island: Trip to Andaman and Nicobar islands is incomplete without Jolly Buoy detour. Serene blue crystal clear waters can be enjoyed with marine life with glass boat or snorkelling. The beach that maintains a 'no plastic zone' in true sense.No plastic bottles of throw away type is allowed to be carried along.

Chidya Tapu: Drive to Chdiya Tapu is through thick forest and sea shore and gives mesmerizing view on the way. it is a sandy beach and famous for "sun set view".

Wandoor Beach: About 30 Kms away from Port Blair, it is a long and beautiful beach having remains of Tsunami effect as uprooted trees at the beach.

Baratang: It is about 100 Kms from Port Blair and takes one full day to visit this island. To go to Baratang, one has to pass through protected area under police escort. The island is famous for Lime stone caves, Mud Volcano and mangroves creeks. 

Tour Packages



Tour Packages: 

Tour Packages are arranged by various tour operators and charges vary as per the accommodation standard and journey to various islands by sea. (Government boats are cheaper but take more time while private boats(cruizers) are costly and save time. Normally seasonal charges are from Rs. 2200/- per person per night stay (rooms Twin Sharing Basis) to Rs. 15000/- per person per night stay during the tour. These  varying charges are the index of standard of hotels only. At cheaper rate hotels with non AC rooms and no complementary breakfast or dinner, the rate may be Rs .2200/- while at Rs 15000/-, it will be a star hotel at islands. Breakfast is complementary while for lunch and / or dinner, one has to negotiate with the tour operators. These charges normally include island journey charges by boat and car, some entry charges. At higher rates even the snorkeling and/ or glass boat charges also are included. One must confirm with the tour operators charges for number of nights and details of hotels  as a package, and the facilities available before making the bookings. Although the islands are safe and secured but tourists can be cheated on some occasions by cutting down the places of visit by the tour operator during their visit.

 Plan Your Stay:

you can plan your night stays to visit Andamans according to places you want to visit and night stays in Havelock and Neil islands. It is suggested to spend night in Port Blair on arrival day and proceed to Have lock next day early morning .It will be worth to spend at least on night in Havelock and for more relaxation two nights in havelock and/or one night in Neil Island. Hotels in Havelock are costliest amongst all islands and prices vary according to season and demand. Transports by road are almost fixed but vary in season. journey from one island to another one is conducted by government and private operators. It also varies in seasons and demand. Charges for glass boat view, snorkeling , scuba diving are fixed for the season and conducted by authorized private operators. Most of the tour operators charge as package deal depending on which places to visit and how many night stays are there. Two nights has to be stayed at Port Blair i.e. arrival day night and before departure day night

One/Two night : Its not worth to plan one/two nights stay and visit Andaman. In one night stay you can cover some part of Port Blair only and cellular jail in the evening. In Two nights only day visits to Havelock also can be covered and Ross island evening show can be seen. Both the nights are to be stayed at Port Blair only i.e. arrival day night and before departure day night.
Three night stay: If you are planning to stay three nights you can enjoy one night at Havelock and cover Neil island day visit from Havelock to Port Blair next day while returning back to Port Blair. 
Four night stay: For four night stay the tourist can stay either two nights at Havelock or one night each at Havelock and Neil. Also if spending one night only at Havelock or Neil, one can come back to Port Blair and stay 3rd night. Next early morning a visit to Baratang island can be planned with same day return to Port Blair and night stay before departure day. 
Five night stay: With the planning of four night stay,the tourist can cover Chidiya Tapu and Wandoor beach with additional day in hand.
Six night stay: If planning for six nights in islands, with the plan of five night stay, one can cover Jolly Buoy island, (a worth seeing marine life and lively beach with crystal colour water).
Seven night stay: In continuation to above planning, one can have full day Boating to cover Ross island the capital of islands during British Raj), North Bay island (Coral Island with coloured fishes and underwater marine life) and Viper island (the place of execution during British Raj) and return back to Port Blair for night stay before next day departure.

Reaching Port Blair

Reaching Port Blair:


Presently, Port Blair is well connected by air from Chennai, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar , Delhi and Mumbai. Some flights arrive in the morning, some in the late morning and some by afternoon. Late evenings also are connected by air from 2016.

It takes around two hours to reach by air from Chennai, Kolkata and Bhubaneswar., Air India, Jet Airways, Go Air, Indigo and Spice Jet connect the island to the Main Land.

Most of the connections are from Chennai and Kolkata but Air India connects from Bhubaneswar also.

Jet airways and Go air connect from Delhi and Mumbai via Kolkata and Chenaai routes and you need not change the aircraft during the halt.

The best time to come to Port Blair is in the morning by Air India and Jet aairwaus flights as you get full day to enjoy at Port Blair or proceed to Havelock same day, saving your one day of total stay

Ships are connecting Port Blair from Chennai, Kolkata and Vishakhapatnam. It takes around 57 hours to reach by sea.

By air, being the easiest and time saving mode of transport, remains in ngood demand during peak seasons...particularly during October to  February.

It is advised to book the ticket well before time of departure to avoid high price or non availability of Air tickets
